Mavirar Nal (Great heroes day) observed at Valvettithurai

Maaveerar Naal (Great heroes day) observed today at Thiruvil, Valvettithurai. Main oil lamp was lit at 06:05, following which lamps were lit public amid raining. Hundreds of people have witnessed the event.
'Mavirar Nal' is a 'Remembrance day' observed by Sri Lankan Tamils to remember the deaths of rebels, who fought for the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE). It is held each year on 27th of November, the date on which the first LTTE cadre, Mr.Shankar (Sathiyanathan) died in combat in 1982.
