உடுப்பிட்டி நலன்புரிச் சங்கம் (Uduppiddy Welfare association) வடமராட்சியின் வல்லைப் பகுதியில் நெய்தல் ஆலை ஒன்றை உருவாக்கியுள்ளனர்." இலங்கை நூற்றல் நெய்தல் ஆலை" - வல்லை, உடுப்பிட்டி, வல்வெட்டித்துறை (Ceylon Spinning and Textils Mills) எனப் பெயரிடப்பட்ட இந்த ஆலை வல்லையில், தொண்டைமானாறு - உடுப்பிட்டி வீதியில் அமைந்துள்ளது.
கடந்த 2 மாதங்களாக தொழிற்பட்டுவரும் இந்த ஆலையில் சுமார் 22 பேர் வரை தற்பொழுது பணியில் உள்ளனர். நெசவுத் தொழிலில் ஈடுபட்டுள்ளவர்கள் தலைநகரில் பிரத்தியேக பயிற்சியையும் பெற்றுள்ளனர்.
ஏற்றுமதித் தரத்திற்கு ஏற்றவாறு தற்பொழுது இங்கு ஆடைகள் வடிவமைக்கப் பெற்று வருகின்றன வடிவமைக்கப்படுகின்றது.

As a person dragged into this project late in the game, efforts made my people in Uduppiddy and those living abroad are well commendable. No doubt we need more hands and brains to elevate it to next level. Right now, our priority is on positive cash flow.

Fist of all I am very pleased just like any of us has to be. The naming is cautiously welcome. Product s on the photographs look good, but I am not the right person to make comment. I wish that we improve the quality to export quality, I am confident it is within the reach of our people. As a person who have lived in the west for some time, the packaging with a attractive title is equally or more important for marketing in the target market.
